Evergreen Plays Cool Choices

Here at Evergreen, we’re on a mission to be environmentally responsible! In April, our staff divided into two teams (“ECU’s Popping Pinecones” and “Nutty Naturals”) and joined the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council and other like-minded organizations for a game of Cool Choices. 2025 was Evergreen Credit Union’s 8th year participating in Cool Choices.

Our teams participated in daily challenges that started with 2 daily choices (“cards”) and grew to 5 daily choices. Evergreen Credit Union explored different aspects of sustainability through each challenge: different cards helped the planet in different ways such as energy, wellness, water, and more. Each card had associated points, from 10 to 100 based on the impact of the action, which increased the team’s ranking. Some cards had the opportunity to get outside and pick up trash or make your workplace more sustainable through eco-friendly suggestions, while others pertained to things around the house such as water conservation or ensuring proper recycling.

At the end of the challenge, Evergreen staff got to see what real world impacts they had by playing this game. For example, during our 2025 Cool Choices challenge, 3,557 gallons of gas was saved by using options such as carpooling, public transit, and walking or biking to work!

Our two teams took 6th and 8th place out of 20 total teams and we can’t wait to participate again next year.
