Looking for something to do this summer with friends or family?  Just look in your backyard!  There are so many adventures awaiting, you will never do the same thing twice in Wisconsin!

 

Waterfall Tour: Day Trip or Camping

Marinette County, Wisconsin

Known as Wisconsin’s Waterfall Capital, and a short drive up Highway 41, Marinette County has 15 waterfalls to explore. Day passes and camping available at select parks. Make sure to call ahead for camp reservations and pricing.

  • Twelve Foot Falls Park, near Dunbar, offers four falls to tour within hiking distance.  Bull Falls, Eighteen Foot Falls, Twelve Foot Falls, and Eight Foot Falls.  This park also offers rustic camp sites that you can stay at
  • Horseshoe Falls is a campground that is horse-friendly.  This campground offers vast hiking trails with overlooks atop the falls
  • Dave’s Falls County Park is a short drive away in Amberg with 2 waterfalls, Bull Falls and Dave’s Falls.  Dave’s Falls offers upper and lower falls, and Bull’s Falls is right along the Pike River.  This County Park also offers camping, hiking trails and has a scenic picnic area to rest and enjoy

All of these parks are pet-friendly, so bring your fur babies along too!

 

Science & Nature Centers

Brillion Nature Center, Brillion, WI

This nature center offers trails for hiking, and a boardwalk that extends into the marsh. The restored prairie allows for viewing of over 50 different types of wildflowers.  There is also a building with hands-on exhibits, live reptiles and mounted animals.

 

High Cliff State Park, Sherwood, WI

This State Park is a designated state natural area.  High Cliff offers picturesque views of the Niagara Escarpment ledges and cliffs, and beautiful views of Lake Winnebago. There is also many hiking trails that lead through the lime stones, quarries and mounds from the ancient Indians who inhabited the land thousands of years ago.  Be aware, High Cliff requires admission to get in. Cherney Maribel Caves County Park, Maribel, WI

This county park offers 75 acres in Maribel with public access to ungated caves.  There are hiking trails in both the upper and lower cave systems. Don’t miss checking out the natural springs!  Admission is free and this park is pet-friendly. Tours are given the 3rd Sunday of each month between May – October.
