HSA, HYSA…? Health Savings and High Yield Savings Accounts

Health Savings Account (HSA)

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a specialty savings account that is tax-deductible and can be used for health care needs. The amount in the account is rolled over year to year and offers a cushion to the owner in times of medical expenses. A HSA will grow tax-free, and if used for qualified medical expenses, the withdrawals from the account will be tax-free as well.

Evergreen Credit Union does not offer HSAs. Be sure to consult your tax advisor if interested in opening a HSA.

High Yield Savings Account (HYSA)

A High Yield Savings Account (HYSA) is a savings account with a higher dividend rate then the base savings account. These typically require more money to meet the minimum requirement to start earning the dividends on the account.

At Evergreen Credit Union, our savings with the highest dividends are called Money Manager accounts. There are two different types; a regular Money Manager which starts at $2,000 and tiers from there. After you have maxed your Money Manager, our Super Money Manager starts at $50,000 with additional savings tiers. Your entire share earns the tier rate, not just the amount above the threshold.

If you are looking at depositing a lumpsum and leaving it to grow also check out our Share Certificate (CD) rates.

High Yield Checking Account

High Yield Checking Accounts allow the owner to earn higher dividend rates then a regular checking while also allowing full access to their money through their debit card. To earn the listed rate, there is typically required transaction minimums or balances that must be met monthly.

There are two accounts at Evergreen Credit Union that offer these perks, Monarch Checking and Extra Green Checking.
