To report a lost or stolen VISA Debit Card please call our fraud management service, SHAZAM, at 1 (833) 288-1126. They are available 24/7 to help.

  • This will place a block on your card which will stop any further transactions from happening.
  • SHAZAM will confirm and go over any recent transactions on your card.
  • If necessary, they will help you file transaction disputes.
  • Aftwards contact us at (920) 729-2999 to order a new card should it be needed.

To report a lost or stolen MasterCard Credit Card please call our MasterCard processor (Fidelity) at 1 (800) 991-4964.

  • They will place a block on your card which will stop any further transactions from happening.
  • Fidelity will go over any recent transactions on your card and file any transaction disputes at the time of your call.
  • A new MasterCard will be issued from Fidelity and you can expect to receive it within 7 to 10 business days.

Fraud/Identity Theft

If you are a victim of identity theft, call us immediately at (920) 729-2999. We have Member Identity Theft Kits available at the credit union and we will do our best to help you through the process.

Important Information:
We will never use a telephone service (automated or text) to contact you that requires you to enter your account information or social security number. Please contact us directly any time you are concerned about the legitimacy of a link or communication that supposedly came from ECU.

We will never send an email that requests personal information. Our online banking service will never require you to enter anything other than your member number, passwords, and security questions answers to log on. We highly recommend you create a username and discontinue using your member number to access online banking.

Fraud Prevention Tips:

  • Get your free annual credit report at annualcreditreport.com.
    • Consider checking this information even more frequently than annually.
  • Online shoppers be sure you are registered with all the additional security features available with your Debit/Credit Cards.  You should use Verified By Visa to help protect your ECU debit card.
  • Always use care when using internet sources for buying and selling.  These are breeding grounds for fraudulent activity.
  • Be careful about work from home, sweepstakes, lottery, and inheritance offers.  Most, if not all, are scams.  The main reason we will put a hold on a check is to prevent potential losses to you.  Remember, you are responsible for all checks deposited into your account(s).
  • Be careful about who you share personal information with on internet social media sites. Use extreme care with over the phone and email solicitations — Do not reveal or share personal information unless you’ve initiated the call or contact and have verified their identity.
  • Never give your PIN number to anyone.  Ever.
  • Never carry your Social Security Card in your purse or wallet.
  • Balance your accounts each month to your statement.  Remember the right to dispute charges has a deadline.
  • Be alert about mailed statement delivery dates for all of your accounts.  If you’re not receiving your statements, investigate the reason ASAP.  This can be the first sign of Identity Theft.  Sign up for free E-Statements and access your ECU statements securely through our online banking service.
  • Keep your contact information current with us and all of your financial institutions.  We need to be able to contact you if we detect suspicious activity on your accounts.
  • Use Online Banking to monitor your account activity.  Detecting fraudulent activity quickly is the key to protecting your accounts and stopping the situation from getting worse.
  • If you are the victim of fraud on your debit or credit card, blocking (also known as Hot Carding) those cards immediately is crucial and may provide evidence you need to protect your charge-back rights.
  • Enroll in E-Alerts/Notices and Statements, which provide fast, convenient, and secure ways to receive account and balance information.  These services are free!  So stay connected to what’s happening with your money!
  • Use our free EasyPay online bill pay. Pay bills by pushing money out of your account instead of allowing vendors access to your private account information.  If a vendor makes a mistake, (takes too much money) it’s much harder and time-consuming to get a refund.  Take control of how your money gets distributed and used.
