Our Story

Evergreen Credit Union is a comfortable place that you can come to find answers and solutions to reach your financial goals and dreams.  Honestly, no goal or dream is too big or small.  I know that those are big statements, but I also know you’ll experience the difference the first time you meet us.  We’re not here to sell you anything. Our commitment and passion is to help you, your family, and our communities succeed. We do this by truly listening to your needs and building a relationship with you that we hope will last a lifetime.

Another big difference you will notice is our team’s strong volunteer spirit.  I am proud to be part of a team that raises funds and donates personal time all year long to support other non-profit organizations and events in our community. The reward of giving back is made even more special by the members that are so moved by our commitment that they volunteer to help us with these efforts.  I am always amazed at the huge amount of good our team and our members do in our area communities.

All of our members, new and old, are part of a long history of people helping people. Evergreen Credit Union was originally started by the employees of Wisconsin Tissue Mills in 1958 to help their fellow employees with financial needs that were not being met by the local banks.  Back then, members needed to go through the boiler room and past the paper machine just to get to our “office”.  In 1984 we finally outgrew the space available in the plant and built the first branch across the street from the plant.  The location on Ehlers Road allowed us to provide our members expanded services for many years. Eventually, consolidations started happening in the paper industry and the credit union’s growth began to plateau.  At that time, our forward-looking volunteer Board of Directors asked the members to approve a change that would allow us to be open to members of the community, regardless of whether they worked at one of our employer groups.  In November of 2002, our members approved that change and with it, a name change to Evergreen Credit Union.

With the new name and charter, we made a strategic commitment to continue providing outstanding financial services to our current members and to reach out to serve new members in the Fox Valley and beyond.  As part of that commitment, we moved the credit union to our current location on West American Drive in 2005. The new building and location have enabled us to better serve our members and the community from an easily accessible location.  Since the move to this location, our membership and the services we offer have grown by leaps and bounds. Membership is now open to anyone living or working in Winnebago, Outagamie, Calumet, Waushara, and Waupaca counties.

I have always felt the best compliment we can receive is when one of our current members recommends us to their friends and family.  We love when that happens and we are always grateful for the praise.  If you are already a member-owner, I want to thank you for being part of our credit union.  If you have not joined us yet, we can’t wait to earn your business, confidence, and recommendation.  Just let us know what we can do to help you with your dreams.
